Special Events

1. Poster Presentation Competition, 3rd March 2009
Material Advantage from FIU continues to provide the graduate students an opportunity to present their research work through the technical Paper Presentation Contest. The contest was open to all the engineering and science department students. The panel of judges was Prof. WB Choi, Prof. KH Wu, Dr. Kim, Dr. Yang and Dr. Kulkarni. In total there were fifteen participants participated for this contest followed by questions from judges and audiences. It was encouraging to see participants from various departments other than MME. It was an achievement for MA Chapter and proved its popularity and outreach. 

Award Ceremony followed the technical oral competition to acknowledge the winners. Honorary mentions were also awarded during the ceremony.
Winners of the Poster competition were:
1st Place: Dr. Srinivasa Rao Bakshi
2nd Place:Mr. Ved Prakash Verma
3rd Place: Ms. Abirami Dhanabalan

In addition to that two honorary awards have given to Mrs. Debrupa Lahiri and Mr. Santanu Das as a special mention.
The success of this event provides us with more confidence and we plan to extend this to inter university competition during the next year. 

2. Materials Quest, Oct. 26th 2007
Material Advantage at FIU organized the Materials Bowl Contest for undergraduate and graduate students. The contest was open to Materials engineering department students. In total there were twenty two students participated in this contest. The aim of this Materials bowl contest was to choose undergraduate student for Materials bowl team in TMS-2008. It was encouraging to see participants took much interest for this contest. Award Ceremony followed the Materials Bowl contest to acknowledge the winners. It was an achievement for MA Chapter and proved its popularity and outreach.
