*Materials Quest: Material Advantage Chapter at FIU is going to arrange Quiz Competition in the month of October 2009. Students will be acknowledged and will be invited to attend special workshops on Metallography and Advanced Microscopy Characterization.
*Workshop for K-12 students and Undergraduates: The chapter will arrange two Workshops in order to elucidate and illustrate the fundamentals and science of materials to the young students. The targets of Workshop in October 2009 are the high school students (MIAMI CORAL PARK SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL), where simple material preparation for microscopic observation will be demonstrated. Advanced Characterization workshop is targeted for Undergraduate students to lure them into fascinating details of Material details as seen under the world of microscopy.
*Engineering Gala, Feb. 20th, 2009:
Fourth state of matter with temperatures exceeding 10,000 K had a mere fascination amoung the eyes of curious students. Around 800-1000 K-12 Students were toured the Plasma Forming Laboratory at Florida International University. Material Advantage introduced the possible applications of the technology to students.
This project supported underpriviledged children to have a fun day. This drive was done to bring smile on their forlorn faces
*Sojourn 2004, Oct. 10th 2004: Material Advantage Chapter Co-organized Multicultural Extravagenza involving University Organizations. Music, Dances, Vocals and arts from the various participants truly revealed the caption of the event, "enliven your spirit".
*Engineering Gala, Feb. 27th 2004 : Material Advantage Chapter presented the current trend of “Nano technology” in the Gala. Attracting school kids with simple principles of building complexity. Lego system were used to demonstrate the building of future technology.
*Workshop: The chapter arranged two Workshops in order to elucidate and illustrate the fundamentals and science of materials to the young students. The targets of Workshop in May 2004 were the high school students, where simple experiments of physics and chemistry were manifested. The science behind the material behavior was explained to the undergraduates in July 2004 Workshop.
*Quizzes & Competitions: Material Advantage Chapter at FIU arranged two competitions in the month of March and August of 2004 to upfront technical talents on forum. Chapter acknowledged and extended appreciation to outstanding students and help in their development. Nurturing of the sharp minds was through workshops and arranging competitions.
*Materials Quiz Competition, 23rd April
Excellent participation in the competition, by knowing simple facts and science of Materials. Many won prizes too!
*Cleaning Day, 1st may
Cleaning the Metallography Lab of Materials and Mechanical Department and making proper inventory list of all the equipments and consumables. It was a good opportunity for the Chapter Student Members to involve themselves making Materials Labs a better place to familiarize and work with.
*Microscopy Workshop, 14th May
Make Material students aware of different characterization techniques. Taught them to prepare specimens and observe under Optical and Electron Microscope.
*Science and Tech. Quiz Competition, 24th May
